We are Jordan a Tia, and we are travelling Australia with our little dog Zenna. We have recently made the move into our van full time. She’s a 1975 VW Kombi called ”Stella”, and she’s definitely changed our lives forever. We plan to travel right around Australia, as slowly as we can and take photos of our adventures along the way.
What began as an idea turned into something much bigger. We began exploring Australia in Stella and quickly fell in love with life on the road and the simplicity it offered. Small trips to our favourite spots sparked our desire to live a happier, simpler life on the road. Both of us are passionate for nature and anything artistic, which is why the bus life is for us.
What does the BusLife mean to you?
Day to day we may not have the same convenience or comforts we enjoyed in our inner city apartment. BusLife is about chasing the simpler things, like time in nature, space to think more creatively and the slow and steady way of living.
What are the biggest advantages and challenges of living the BusLife?
Every morning we have the advantage of being wherever we want to be. Our home is Stella and she takes us to more places than we knew existed. Most days we have at least a few conversations with people passing by thanks to Stella, she does attract a lot of welcomed attention as we go from place to place and everyone we meet is put in a good mood because she brings them joy.
The weather in Australia can get extreme, and we have experienced some days greater than 44 degrees celsius (110F). Without having any aircon in our bus these temperatures can be hard at times especially on our baby, Zenna.
Tell us your favourite destination you have travelled to so far?
One place that will always be close to us is a small beach town called Lancelin. From the soft white sand dunes that never end to the open beaches this place is simply heaven for us. We have been many times to this amazing spot and no matter what time of year its always perfect.
What’s your favourite thing about your VW Bus?
Put simply we are always living life in the slow lane with our VW Bus. She makes us so chill and we love to share her vibe every place we go. At times we have found life in general can get crazy, but when we are in our bus things just seem simple and easy.
What advise would you give to anyone starting a travel adventure in a VW Bus?
Our best advise would be to ‘plan for the worst, but hope for the best’. We always try to think of the unfortunate situations before they happen so at least we have a plan in case they do. BusLife is not meant to be easy but what helped us was to have a plan for each situation so in case they arise you can move on quickly to having more happy days.
