Hey I'm Alberto

My VW Bus is a fully original ’72 Westfalia that I bought in Italy from a friend of mine. The bus was produced the 8. October 1972 in Hannover and has been shipped to Italy right after. It still has his original (Italian) license plates, and he has had 2 previous owners.  I come from Italy but I currently live in Berlin.

My project’s name is VWangogh. The name comes from VW and Van Gogh, the famous artist. I chose that name because it’s kinda crazy (sometimes it does weird things like it won’t start if someone else is supposed to drive). I travel almost everywhere in Europe but I’m thinking about doing a proper road trip in the States once I get my bachelor’s degree.

My life mission is...

To wake up every morning and be excited about life because I know today will be full of new adventures, people, places, and memories that will last a lifetime.

I want to experience the beauty of traveling in an old VW Bus and let people understand it’s not always necessary to buy a new car to go on holiday. Having an old bus is fascinating and it gives you lots of joy. New cars are boring and full of technologies and other stuff no one really needs. Just keep it simple.

My best Buslife advice

Buslife is not just a hashtag or a trend, but a way of thinking. Buslifers just see the world with other eyes, and that's what I really like about it. I honestly don't really support people buying brand-new vans and converting them into homes on wheels. Buslife is more experiencing the life our parents and grandparents used to live knowing the comfort of this whole new world full of technology and progress.

Norway has been the best destination ever!

Living in a bus lets you understand we are surrounded by stuff we don't need at all. Living in a tiny space let me think about what's really important to me and what's not, what I really care about. It also let me understand how beautiful our planet is and how important it is to keep it as clean as possible. I am not an activist but I care about the planet. Traveling helps us understand how blessed we are to have such a lovely world.

My favorite thing about my bus is the interiors. I really like to sit in there and it's very useful when I need to study or to work. I take my VW Bus, I drive it somewhere and I study (or work) on the VW Bus, surrounded by nature and avoiding any city noise we have in Berlin.
